We had the opportunity these past two weekends to be a vendor at the Buffalo Home Show. The experience was certainly worthwhile as we got to talk to a lot of people, a lot of people interested in wood slabs and live edge tables, desks, and countertops. This of course, is what we are all about!
Beyond getting a chance to engage with so many people from Buffalo and the surrounding Western New York area, we also learned a lot about what people want as far as their homes, their interior spaces, and what they need for enhanced comfort. People are also all about enhancing the aesthetic look of their homes and offices. Which is why we did get so many inquiries regarding live edge conference tables, wood slab dining room tables, and kitchen islands. Some other key takeaways from the Buffalo Home Show in March 2022:
1. People understand quality. Versus what you can get with a mass produced piece of furniture consisting largely of particleboard and other composite materials, wood slab furniture truly is a symbol of quality and craftsmanship. People really do understand this. And more and more consumers want high-quality items in their homes or businesses, such that will last a lifetime.
2. Wood slabs can accommodate a multitude of styles and design aesthetics. Wood slabs and live edge furniture aren’t just for those interested in a rustic look. We talked to a ton of people who wanted a wood slab table or live edge desk for a more modern space. Some were seeking to accent their farmhouse look. Others had a more eclectic sensibility and were looking for a wood edge piece that would tie everything together.
3. Dining room tables and wood slab pieces aren’t just for a specific time of year. That is to say, people are on the hunt for interesting tables and furniture pieces all year long. So unlike with some other seasonal products and services, what we offer is relevant in the summer, spring, fall or winter. And judging by the number of people we talked to this spring, excitement for wood slab furniture really doesn’t ever dim.
4. People love home shows. This just tells us that people really do love their homes. Especially since the pandemic, more and more people have been spending a great deal of time in their homes, be it because of remote work, childcare issues, or some other such circumstance. And people, consequently, are falling in love with their homes all over again. Finding those perfect pieces and bringing a room together with a wood slab dining room table, for example, really is something to celebrate.
